About the Owner
Jim Hyland
Jim has spent 18 plus years in the glass and glazing industry learning all facets of the industry. After attending Waynesburg College as a student athlete and obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree, he pursued his passion for football at The University of St. Francis, in Joliet, Illinois where he served as a graduate assistant for the football team and earned a Master of Business Administration. After a two-year period, Jim determined that the coaching profession was a long and tedious occupation. Upon completion of his Master’s degree, he returned to his roots in Western Pennsylvania to be hired as a field support carpenter with a local company. After spending nearly two years in the field, he was hired as a project manager. He was tasked with managing different levels of projects back in Western PA. This is where he began to really learn how to build relationships with customers and the sales aspect of the contracting business.
From field employee, middle level management, to upper-level management, he sparked his career and reputation as a leader in the industry. He has focused on improving efficiencies, building relationships, and improving on skills to improve himself and those surrounding him. Through his experiences, Jim put a big emphasis on culture, recruitment, retention, development, and growth.
Jim looks to expand on the past and bring a new team culture to the industry, combining deep industry experience with professional, process-driven approaches to every project. Under Jim’s leadership, Gridiron Glass understands the importance of coordination, scheduling, and accountability in commercial construction. We will strive to make sure every scope is executed with precision to meet project requirements, timeliness, and expectations.
Jim also served on the Young Constructors Committee for the Master Builders Association. He is also currently on the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Builders Exchange.
